I have just bought myself my very first bike - a 1994 Suzuki LS650 Savage. I don't really know much about it yet, and am very nervous of replacing bits and pieces (although I suspect quite a few need replacing, as the previous owner hadn't done much to it since he bought it).
What I really need to know, is how to get rid of the squeaking belt - it's driving me crazy! It sounds like I've got a dying cat caught under my wheels (and I don't - I checked). I did see talcum powder mentioned, but I'd love to hear any suggestions at all - and exactly how to apply them.
Also, this famous 'popping', which I have seen mentioned by other people already. The bike makes some almighty 'pops' when I am slowing down, and always gives one last fart just after I turn the engine off. Is this all quite alright?
Other than that, the bike has been without doubt, the best purchase of my life so far!
